New England Risks Winter Blackouts as Gas Supplies Tighten

Today The Wall Street Journal wrote that New England power producers are preparing for potential strain on the grid this winter as a surge in natural-gas demand abroad threatens to reduce supplies they need to generate electricity.

ODIN President and CEO, Chris Barros notes that, “Even with our societal renewable initiatives, a balance of natural gas infrastructure development is key to meeting regional energy needs. Natural gas is the key transitional energy source to bridge from the reduction of high carbon sources like coal and oil to the renewable technologies of the future.”
