Civil CAD Designer

Title: Civil CAD Designer
Duties and Responsibilities

Under the general direction and supervision of the CAD Manager, the Civil CAD designer performs CAD drafting and design duties to support the fabrication, manufacturing and installation of natural gas metering & pressure regulating stations and liquefied natural gas (LNG) and compressed natural gas (CNG) handling facilities.

Basic/Minimum Qualifications

  • 5+ years of relevant experience with specialization in preparing designs in the civil engineering field including site, grading, stormwater, and foundation plans.
  • Associates degree or higher.
  • Certificate program training with equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Fully competent in all aspects of basic design software: AutoCAD.
  • Fully competent in the utilization of 3D software packages: Civil 3D, Map 3D.
  • Competency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Office 365.
  • Proficiency in reading, interpreting, and manipulating various discipline drawings.

Essential Job Functions
The Designer is responsible for the following:

  • Perform complex work with minimal guidelines and supervision. Apply engineering fundamentals, and recommended design procedures in preparing preliminary and through construction drawings for engineers’ approval.
  • Produce high quality deliverables on schedule.
  • Work independently on design projects.
  • Work with engineers to recognize project design needs and coordinate and delegate accordingly.
  • Recognize problems, and identify solutions to the design team.
  • Aid in estimating sheet counts and time requirements for new projects.
  • Participates in CAD groups, facilitates the use of national and company standards.
  • Develop blocks and details.
  • Assist in the training of developing designers.
  • Serve as a technical resource for discipline specific software questions and answers.

  • Work additional hours, as may be assigned.

Civil Engineer

Title: Civil Engineer

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the general direction and supervision of the Manager of Civil Design Engineering, the Civil/Structural Engineer performs engineering design duties associated with the site development for natural gas facility projects including site layout and drainage design. The Civil Engineer will be responsible for ensuring technical competence and compliance with all current regulations, codes, and policies.

The Civil Engineer/Designer may be responsible for the following:

  • Performing engineering calculations;
  • Running engineering simulation and/or analysis programs;
  • Working with civil designers to assist with developing/preparing maps, site plans and design drawings;
  • Representing the company in area of expertise with customers, suppliers, third party engineering firms, and outside consultants;
  • Interfacing with other engineering disciplines to ensure the effective integration of project civil and structural elements with the overall project design;
  • Planning, scheduling, and coordinating detailed phases of engineering work while supporting the Project Management;
  • Performing field engineering activities (as required); and
  • Preparing construction specifications & performing occasional construction administration duties.

  • Demonstrated experience in drafting/detailing of 2D deliverable drawings.

  • Two (2) to Five (5) + years of Civil design experience in the utility or power industry.
  • Demonstrated proficiency working with CADWorx Plant Professional, AutoCAD Plant 3D or other similar 3D piping programs.
  • Licensed PE or ability to obtain PE within a year is preferred. ODIN will support the successful candidate through the PE process.
  • Project Engineering or Project Management experience is preferred.
  • Experience with local, state, and federal regulatory permitting processes for energy projects.
  • Experience with the design of reinforced concrete foundations.
  • Field/Construction management experience.

Travel

  • Target budget is $65,000 to $110,000 annually.

Electrical CAD Designer

Title: Electrical CAD Designer

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the general direction and supervision of the CAD Manager, the Electrical CAD designer performs CAD drafting and design duties to support the fabrication, manufacturing and installation of natural gas metering & pressure regulating stations and liquefied natural gas (LNG) and compressed natural gas (CNG) handling facilities.

Basic Minimum Education/Experience

  • Associate’s degree in Drafting or Engineering Technology.
  • Entry level plus, but minimum of five (5) years of related experience preferred.
  • Experience utilizing Auto CAD.
  • Demonstrated proficiency working with AutoCAD.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in drafting/detailing of 2D drawings and basic working external references.

Essential Job Functions

  • Preparing preliminary and construction electrical drawings for the construction of pipeline, metering and regulating stations, and small to mid-scale LNG facilities with day-to-day direction from the Senior Electrical Designer and oversight from the groups Manager.
  • Working closely with other-discipline Design Engineers in the preparation of multi- discipline drawings.
  • Taking responsibility for the as-built status of construction drawings as projects are completed, providing completed drawings to the locations.
  • Supporting requests for copies of drawings for internal and external customers, maintains the database of electronic drawing files.
  • Assists the Technical Staff in visiting site locations for field verification of existing and as-built conditions at facility locations.
  • Compiling construction records and documentation for project files to meet operating procedure requirements.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
  • Work additional hours, as may be assigned.
  • Work cooperatively with others.

Electrical Engineer

Title: Electrical Engineer

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the general direction and supervision of ODIN management, the Electrical Engineer performs engineering duties associated with the design of power and controls systems for process gases, pressure regulation and measurement, cryogenics and/or compressed gas handling systems. The Electrical Engineer is responsible for ensuring technical competence and compliance with all current regulations, codes, and policies.

Responsibilities Include, but are not Limited to:

  • Support in the preparation of Electrical One-Line Diagrams, Site Conduit Layout, Grounding Plan, Hazardous Area Plan, Controls drawings, RTU drawings, Building Electrical Plans, Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID), piping drawings, electrical conduit layouts, bill of materials, and general arrangement drawings.
  • Performing visual inspections of incoming materials to make sure that they match the technical specifications.
  • Providing technical support to senior engineers and designers during the preparation of project specific deliverables including:
    • Technical reviews of equipment specifications, standards, drawings, and engineering calculations for assigned projects to ensure that they are consistent with technical and company guidelines, codes & standards, and project requirements.
    • Reviewing vendor materials quotations, preparing technical evaluations, and recommending to the Project Manager and Procurement selections based on technical merit along with price and delivery.
  • Participating in design review meetings with the Project Manager, Project Engineer, Project Team and Client to discuss the scope, design, and expected performance, as well as work out unforeseen problems.
  • Providing technical support to shop and construction personnel during manufacturing and construction activities.
  • Supporting the commissioning of newly installed facilities by directing the efforts of multi-discipline commissioning teams.
  • Supporting business development efforts by providing project scope and preliminary designs.

Mechanical Engineer

Title: Mechanical Engineer

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the general direction and supervision of ODIN management, the Mechanical Engineer performs engineering duties associated with the design of mechanical equipment and piping for process gases, pressure regulation and measurement, cryogenics and/or compressed gas handling systems. The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for ensuring technical competence and compliance with all current regulations, codes, and policies.

Responsibilities Include, but are not Limited to:

  • Sizing and specifying of piping systems and related equipment (control valves, pressure vessels, rotating equipment, etc.)
  • Performing heat transfer and heat balance calculations or simulations
  • Preparing or directing the preparation of Process Flow Diagrams (PFD), Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID), piping drawings, isometric fabrication drawings, bill of materials, and general arrangement drawings in CADWorx
  • Performing visual inspections of incoming materials to make sure that they match the technical specifications.
  • Providing technical direction to staff mechanical engineers and designers on the preparation of project specific deliverables including:
    • Conducting and overseeing technical reviews of equipment specifications, standards, drawings, and engineering calculations for assigned projects to ensure that they are consistent with technical and company guidelines, codes & standards, and project requirements.
