Algonquin Gas Transmission – Engineering and Design of Launcher/Receivers for 18 Sites
As part of their Integrity Management Program, Enbridge desired to install launcher / receiver barrels on their Algonquin Gas Transmission system. ODIN was awarded the engineering and design of 18 sites located in Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts over a 5-year period. The purpose of the projects was to allow for internal inspection of their systems utilizing “smart pigs” which could detect anomalies along the pipe such as dents, internal corrosion, and reduced wall thicknesses. Then in-turn Enbridge could proactively repair anomalies to maintain the safe operating conditions of their pipeline system. These internal inspections are required by the DOT and occur at different intervals depending on the lines class location rating.
ODIN performed engineering and design for the installation of launcher and receiver barrels at each of these sites from inception to project completion which often included surveys, permitting, detailed design, construction support, and as-builts.
