Avangrid Vaporizer – Full EPC

Avangrid/Berkshire Gas (BGC) sought a company that could design, build, and install a second vaporizer at their Whately, MA LNG Plant. This is an LNG peak shaving facility that liquefies natural gas for storage and injection into the gas grid during peak demand periods. After careful evaluation, they selected ODIN.

ODIN provided full EPC services for the Vaporizer including the detailed design from the preliminary design to IFC; selection and procurement of the shell and tube vaporizer; fabrication the structural skid, piping, and related components; field installation including foundation, piping, and electrical components; and system commissioning.

The system design included specifying a redundant shell and tube vaporizer, liquid flow meter, and flow control valve.  Designing associated piping modifications to both the existing LNG vaporizer and vaporizer water glycol piping from the facilities heating room.  Controls and SCADA system modifications were also made.  The new system can serve as the primary vaporizing system or act as a back-up.

ODIN provided construction services for the project in addition to construction management.  We oversaw all daily activities including civil work, welding and fabrication, electrical work, and conducted regular safety inspections of the worksite.  ODIN provided engineering support and As-Builts upon commissioning and project close-out.
