Avangrid Bowdoin Meter Station

In a combined effort between Enbridge and Avangrid, Maine Natural Gas (MNG) the Bowdoin meter station required an increase in capacity due to higher demand in the local community. This increase entailed upgrades to the Enbridge metering system and MNG heating system and regulation piping. The station could not be commissioned due to supply issues. To address this, a temporary metering and regulation skid was employed during the project.

ODIN provided EPC services for the project including full engineering and design of the metering, heating and regulation upgrades, material procurement, facility construction, and commissioning support. ODIN also assisted Enbridge and MNG in the tie over planning process to the temporary facility and back to the upgraded facility upon completion of construction.

The upgrades at the facility included approximately 100 feet of 3” diameter inlet piping, tap upgrades, two new 4” fully redundant meter runs, an 8’ building extension to house the new and longer runs, a new Enbridge positive shut-off valve downstream of metering, a new MNG inline water bath heater, regulation piping upgrades, a new gas chromatograph, and all necessary instrumentation and communication upgrades. The existing heating system was left in place for redundancy.

Enbridge supplied the temporary metering regulation skid from a past project, with ODIN designing minor modifications required for this project and both upstream and downstream piping for system tie-ins.

The facility was successfully commissioned in November of 2019 and as-builts were then delivered to both MNG and Enbridge and the project closed out in December of 2019.
