NJNG Howell, NJ LNG Storage Facility
New Jersey Natural Gas (NJNG) sought to conceptualize, design, fabricate, construct and commission a new liquefaction system at their Howell, NJ LNG storage facility. This addition would provide LNG for both NJNG’s Howell and Stafford LNG facilities, eliminating the need for LNG trucking.
ODIN was selected to provide full EPC services, including preliminary engineering, detailed design, equipment procurement, construction, and commissioning of the system. ODIN also provided permitting support for the project and assisted in the design and installation of a new power feed required for the liquefaction process.
The liquefaction system consisted of a metering and tail gas send out skid, a 3-bed molecular sieve pretreatment system, a nitrogen cycle liquefaction system driven by an electric motor nitrogen compressor and a pair of turbo expanders. A circulating glycol/water system was installed to remove the heat of compression from the refrigerant. A Motor Control Center (MCC) Building was installed and contained communication equipment that tied into the SCADA system. A new truck unload system including drive-in scale, LNG send out pump, and loading skid was also included.
The project was successfully commissioned upon completion of construction and the project was closed out with the delivery of detailed as-builts and construction records.
