City of Monroe Gas Greenfield Peak Shaving Facility
The City of Monroe sought to build a greenfield LNG peak-shaving facility with some used equipment. ODIN provided an assessment of the equipment and determined viability.
The intent of the facility was to store natural gas in a compressed liquid form as LNG during trucked in during off peak summer periods and heat vaporize and inject that natural gas into their distribution system during winter peak periods. The gas is purchased more cost effectively in the summer and injected to offset high costs during the winter. The extra winter injection also supports system pressures during periods of high demand and flows.
The repurposed equipment consisted of 2 x 37,000 gal cryogenic LNG tanks, a 250 Mcf/hr vaporizer, and an electronic gas measurement (EGM) room.
ODIN provided full engineer of record design and commissioning services to build and start the vaporization, trucking, and storage plant.
