Engineering, Procurement, Construction (EPC)

ODIN has developed many complete projects since 1996 including both EPC at Risk, EPC, and Design Build.

EPC at Risk projects entail producing all design documents, purchasing all materials, and executing all construction including commissioning and start-up. EPC at Risk contracts require performing all functions within a lump sum cost that is defined initially. See an example at Avangrid TPS FERC

EPC contracts are very similar, but the contract terms usually do not include liquidated damages if commitments are not met. See an example at ESNG Daleville Station

Design Build contracts usually require the completion of all engineering documents first. Once the drawing package is complete. The construction is then bid at that point. It can be bid competitively or priced and awarded to the engineering contractor. National Grid Salem AESD

Grid Modernization

ODIN has a large number of projects with all of the major regional utilities to promote modernization of the natural gas energy delivery system. We provide a unique team with experience in electrical power, civil survey, mechanical gas systems, controls, and data acquisition. ODIN has produced and implemented a best in class standard of operation for natural gas and cryogenic facilities. Natural Gas and Cryogenic (Liquefied Natural Gas) Facilities

ODIN has worked with many regional natural gas facilities from concept to complete. In addition to building as EPC the Towanda LNG plant, ODIN can conceptualize new or expansion locations with site renderings, budget, layout, schedule, and design using 4D methods to optimize construction and reduce costs and timeline. We have also generated 3D models and scans of existing facilities to document as-built records or for integration with new upgrade or expansion projects. ODIN has been involved with many station designs like PSEG Central and Enbridge South Berwick, ME.

Hydrogen Injection and Blending

ODIN has been selected by a major utility as the first engineering and construction company to support Hydrogen Injection and Blending into a Natural Gas Distribution System in the United States. The concept behind injecting renewable hydrogen into the existing natural gas piping infrastructure is to further improve the carbon footprint of natural gas to heat homes which is already much better than an oil or coal alternative. Hydrogen and Natural Gas delivered through the existing massive natural gas infrastructure promotes a cost effective solution to support carbon reduction goals.

Structural Design Repairs

ODIN has engineered solutions to many structural design projects, drawing flaws, and failing steel locations. Integrated with complete facility projects or as stand-alone initiatives, we work with utility guidance and oversight to provide industry standard turn-key designs. Our experience includes perimeter fencing, manways, vehicle gates, staircases, and scaffoldings. We are vendor neutral and provide the best technology solution for each situation.

Renewable Natural Gas (RNG)

ODIN works and has experience with the RNG equipment that is utilized to convert methane emissions to natural gas. We support lifecycle project development including, collection, pre-treatment, launcher/receiver pigging, filtering/separation, metering, heating, pressure control, odorization, and blending into the distribution system. Battery Storage

ODIN is working with our clients to integrate energy storage via battery technology with their processes. ODIN, as an experienced “balance of plant” integrator, contributes electrical power, civil survey, controls, and data acquisition design to battery cell installations . ODIN is currently working on solutions for NEC and Hygrid.

Electric Charging

ODIN supports our clients with current and future needs in an ever-changing energy space.  We are currently designing and supporting the installation of electric charging stations for one of the largest utilities located in the Northeast. The charging facilities are part of a new, multi-story, control room development at an LNG peak-shaving plant.  The electric charging stations will provide power for company and guest vehicles.

LNG Tank Jet Fire Protection Design (LNG)

National Grid sought to raise safety standards, improve risk management, and address insurance concerns in relation to the potential of a jet fire at their LNG tank locations.
ODIN developed a solution for National Grid to protect their storage tanks at various sites from an unforeseen jet fire.  ODIN designed a unique best-in-class system to protect their tank walls against damage while system shut-down would occur, and fire prevention measures take effect.  View the Jet Fire Protection PDF to learn more about this important solution.
